The 2008 - 2009 Season In Review

The 2008 - 2009 Season was an exciting one for the U17 Beadling Inferno Girls' Soccer Team. In December 2008, the Team finished 1st in the Top Flight Calcio Bracket at the CASL Tournament. They followed this great accomplishment by finishing as a Final Four Semi-Finalist in the prestigious Disney's College Showcase in the Predator White Division in Dec 2008/Jan 2009. The team successfully competed in the Jefferson Cup, finishing as Co-Champions in the Championship (Top) Division, as rain and weather prevented the final championship match from being played. This tournament included a win over FC Delco, a huge accomplishment for the Beadling Inferno. The team earned a spot in the Region 1 Premier/ Director's League (based on their finish in the top 4 overall in Spring 2008), and finished with their best record ever of 5-2-0, which left them in third place in the Southern bracket. The team also participated in the Adidas Blue Chip Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio in April followed by the PDA College Showcase in May. The PA West State Cup Tournament began in May and ended in June 2009, with the U17 Beadling Inferno capturing its 6th Consecutive State Cup Title, having won every year since the first year at U12!!! The team scored 42 goals while giving up 2 goals throughout the entire tournament. The Region 1 Championship Series in Barboursville, WV provided some great competition for the team. The overall record for the season was 18-9-3, a very impressive record given the high level of play throughout the year. The team scored 74 goals while giving up on 34 during the entire season. Gotsoccer.com ranked the U17 Beadling Inferno Girls Team as high as #3 in the Nation in March 2009, and #1 in Region 1, with 6 teams from Region 1 ranking in the Top 10 at that time. It was another great season for the team, and the now U18 Beadling Inferno Girls' Team looks forward to a great season in 2009 - 2010.
